Policy SS1 Settlement Hierarchy identifies Martock as a rural centre which has a local service role where provision for development will be made that meets local housing need, extends local services and supports economic activity appropriate to the scale of the settlement. We support the designation of Martock within the proposed hierarchy of settlements.

What changes do you suggest to make the DPD legally compliant or sound? Policy SS1 Settlement Hierarchy identifies Martock as a rural centre that is supported.

The local plan should be amended to provide the following:
A housing requirement that meets identified housing demand;
A higher proportion of development outside of Yeovil;
A higher provision of development directed towards Martock commensurate with its role as a local centre, and
Provide housing and employment allocations at Martock.
If your representation is seeking a change, do you consider it necessary to participate at the oral part of the examination? Yes
If you wish to participate at the oral part of the examination, please outline why you consider this to be necessary: To enable the Inspector to explore the issues and amend the plan to make it sound.
