The Trust objects to the above policy on the basis that a possible option for the location of the Sports Zone and associated major sports hall buildings etc would appear to be within the proposed Major Yeovil Urban Extension area. Any such large sports hall buildings would add further to the intrusion within the landscape already identified as a major issue with the Major Urban Extension. Background to the objection The Site Options re-appraisal for Yeovil Sport Zone Final Report: Dec.2010 ide

I object to phrasing of the Policy as it contradicts ethos of claimed intent. Benefits of locating facilities in central location to promote physical mobility and encourage inhabitants to use carbon free modes of transport are being contradicted if this complex is sited away from nucleus of central links.

3. Policy HW2 With sustainability in mind we are concerned that the emphasis on the Yeovil Sports Zone will deny funding during the plan period to improved recreational facilities in Somerton (Project 4 in the Community Plan). It seems unrealistic to assume that people will generally travel to a central sports facility. We recognise that creation of the Submission South Somerset Local Plan 2006-2028 is a big project in which there has to be a balance of local and regional aspirations. We belie

Para. 11.20 "from all modes of transport". All modes? Or relevant modes?

Policy HW2: "Close to... sustainable transport modes" This is poorly worded - you can't be close to sustainable modes, but you can be in a suitable location to encourage their use.

I object to this policy. The Sports Zone is an integral facility not just for the people of Yeovil but for South Somerset. For the best overall benefit a facility such as this should be located in proximity to the most populus and deprived areas of Yeovil which are Westfield, Mildford and Yeovil East to ensure these communities have close access and without requirement for use of public or private transport. Additionally for accessibility to commmunities without such facilities who are prodomina
