Draft Core Strategy

(incorporating Preferred Options)

October 2010

South Somerset District Council is at a key draft stage in producing its Core Strategy, the first and fundamental strategic planning document, as part of the Local Development Framework. The Draft Core Strategy sets out the long-term planning framework for the District up to 2026.

The draft plan (Core Strategy) is not yet council policy. It has been shaped by evidence about the local area and by engagement with the community. It includes some 'preferred options' on which we are seeking your views before final publication. We need your help to make sure the details are correct and to make sure we haven't missed important facts.

We are holding a number of exhibitions and events throughout October and November where you can meet council representatives to discuss the proposals and policies that interest you and ensure you have your say. The Plan for South Somerset to 2026 Summary Leaflet provides further information.

To see the proposals for your settlement please select below. At the end of each section you can make comments using the link on the grey bar. All Inset Maps have now been put on the system and can be opened via a link in the relevant settlement section.

Villages not listed above are considered in the Rural Settlements section of the Draft Core Strategy.

The responses to the Draft Core Strategy, and the key policy matters emerging, were considered by the Local Development Framework Project Management Board (PMB), Area Committees and the Council’s District Executive Committee between the close of the consultation and March 2012. The recommendations of the District Executive to amend the Core Strategy where considered appropriate in the light of representations received, further emerging evidence base, and government policy, were reported to Full Council on 23rd April 2012.

The Full Council Report can be viewed on the South Somerset District Council website. Please select the Agenda or Minutes for 23rd April 2012.
